July 29th, 2010 Berlin is a city of contrasts: it is the capital of Germany with imposing looking government buildings and embassies. On the other hand it still recovers after the end of the GDR 20 years ago with unemployment rates up to 30%. This however makes the city so exciting and diverse – incredibly low rents lead to a plethora of galleries, shops of independent designers and innovative cafes and restaurants.

July 27th, 2010 Last Sunday (25th of July) I met the lovely eat like a girl and the charming London Foodie at Parsons Green for the Cloudy Bay Shack to enjoy some delicious wine, lovely food, jazz and sunshine.

So there is one major problem with Platform, a new restaurant close to London Bridge tube station. It is very loud. I mean ‘you can’t understand you own word and have to shout at your opposite’ loud. ‘Having no voice left afterward’ loud. ‘Having no way to attract the attention of the waiter’ loud. I think you got the idea. Read more... (635 words, 2 images, estimated 2:32 mins reading time)

Mildreds is my favourite (cheap) vegetarian restaurant in London. I once in the while go there on weekends, after I had maybe a couple of drinks too many and loads of heavy food the day (the week?) before, for some small “detoxing/feeling better about my body” food (it’s by far better than sports ). What I also like about it is, that it is not one of those annoying ‘into your face vegetarian all meat eaters are bad’ places but just happens to serve vegetarian food. so what. Read more... Food and Wine Blogger dinners are a great opportunity to meet and socialise with other food bloggers and enjoy good value food in interesting restaurants  (thank you Niamh for organising!). This time it took place at Bob Bob Ricards in Soho.
Bob Bob Ricard is a super stylish and decadent, Russian themed restaurant with – very importantly – a pink “champagne emergency button” on each table; the evening was off to a promising start! It indeed commenced very well with the BBR signature cocktail – a delicious rhubarb gin & tonic (7.5). In fact I have to say that all the drinks to come were delightful. Read more... I stumbled over Sa Sa Sushi close to Angel tube station in search for a quick pre-theatre bite.
Successful pre-theatre dinners are dictated by a different set of rules: I might compromise on atmosphere for fastness but am obviously not prepared to compromise on quality. Read more... (330 words, 2 images, estimated 1:19 mins reading time)

Tsuru Sushi is a little gem and I really wonder how I survived so long without it. My enthusiasm is attributable to several factors: (1) good food (2), so close to London Bridge (this is where I work), (3) possibly the friendliest and most charming service I have had in a long time and (4) it is already cheap but even cheaper when you have a Taste London Card (which I have and which gives me 50% off ). July 12th, 2010 Supper club (30 pounds BYO)
I have finally managed to go to a Supper Club. Yes I have completely missed the trend and must be the last person in the world who has never been to one of the secret restaurants that are popping up all over London (well, if I don’t count the paladares in Cuba where I ate some of the dullest food ever in the most depressing atmosphere). But now I have finally caught up with the latest trend in eating out and went to the NOMAD CHEF in Holland Park. Read more... (609 words, 1 image, estimated 2:26 mins reading time)

Sunday brunch at Tom’s Kitchen and I was not impressed. This is the second restaurant by the Michelin starred chef Tom Aikens whose other restaurants include Tom Aikens in Chelsea and Tom’s Terrace at the Somerset House. I had heard great things about this place especially for brunch and my expectations were correspondingly high. BUT, to my utter disappointment:
Firstly, Tom’s Kitchen is massively overpriced: 4 pounds for a small glass of orange juice? I know it’s Chelsea, but please! Read more... (386 words, 3 images, estimated 1:33 mins reading time)

A special restaurant for special occasions I was very excited to finally dine at The Ledbury in Notting Hill. (I took RS there for his birthday, lucky guy!)
The chef Brett Graham is only 30 years old and has accomplished 2 Michelin stars for his restaurant (for a more detailed description of the chef’s CV and some beautiful pictures of the food at the Ledbury I refer you to the excellent post by Cheese and Biscuits). The food is ‘modern French’ with some interesting twists, I particularly enjoyed the play with unusual flavours which you kind of think can’t work together and can’t help but order out of curiosity: let me guarantee you however, they do work very well indeed!
