I am not going to give a good review to any Italian restaurant that serves me overcooked pasta, particularly when I request my pasta to be al dente. So if you don’t mind the state of your pasta you might enjoy Pizzeria La Lanterna. If you are, like me, a pasta snob, stay away. Read more... (439 words, 5 images, estimated 1:45 mins reading time)
December 27th, 2010 Finally something Austrian on my blog, namely how to make the Austrian national dish Wiener Schnitzel. I am not the biggest fan of Austrian cuisine in general, but there are some super-delicious dishes, one of them being the very typical Austrian Wiener Schnitzel, traditionally served with Potato Salad. The important thing about a good Wiener Schnitzel is that it needs to be thin, fried golden-brown and with a light, non-greasy breading. Heavenly.

Polpo is the first restaurant which, since I have started this blog, needs to be marked down because of its toilet. I have never seen a toilet that disgusting in a place that is not a boys only student flat share. I will describe all the ghastly details later, but before you completely lose your appetite I shall talk about the food first. Read more... (735 words, 8 images, estimated 2:56 mins reading time)
December 24th, 2010 This is my ‘Merry Christmas to all my dear readers Post‘. Thanks for following, reading, commenting and making it an even greater pleasure for me to write this blog.
I wish you all a lovely and peaceful Christmas with your family and loved ones, and I hope you all have very nice food . (My sister and I have to cook this year as my poor mum broke her arm, so I am not so sure how this is going to turn out…) Read more... (456 words, 8 images, estimated 1:49 mins reading time)
December 22nd, 2010 Once in a while I come across a lovely independent coffee shop or cosy and innovative tea house and even though my blog really focuses on food, they should be mentioned. How often do I end up at Starbucks or Nero because I don’t know where else to go? That’s why I have decided to introduce the coffee shop and tea house category. There is no rating as I won’t mention any bad places (unless they are so bad that I find it necessary to spread the word…) and in most I won’t have eaten anything. It’s just about places where you could imagine hanging out for an afternoon, reading the newspaper or a book, do some people watching or watch the world go by and have some delicious coffee or wonderful tea. December 20th, 2010 It’s the end of the year again. And with this comes the dreaded New Year’s Eve. Between you and me, I have always hated New Year’s Parties with their forced happiness and there is nothing that puts me to sleep more efficiently than knowing that I have to stay up. I have given up on New Year’s Parties entirely now – usually going out on the 30th and getting awfully drunk and then being very happy to go to bed at 9 on New Year’s Eve. Read more... December 16th, 2010 I have done it again! Cooking I mean. It seems to becoming a habit, twice in a row, that’s so good for me! And this time I even invited a lucky taster over, who appeared to have liked my cooking . Read more... (478 words, 3 images, estimated 1:55 mins reading time)

After an amazing classical concert by the London Philharmonic Orchestra at the Royal Festival Hall, my parents and I wanted a quick bite to eat and a nice glass of red wine to go with it. For me it’s always rather difficult to find a decent place to eat around the Southbank Centre. Too many generic chain restaurants and too many tourists queuing in front of them. As it was already quite late we just went into the first restaurant that crossed our ways, that was Le Pain Quotidien. Le Pain Quotidien is a Belgian chain with restaurants with subsidiaries all over the world. I liked the rustic communal tables and the waiters were polite and helpful.
