DUMPLING LEGEND (Chinatown)

Category:Bistro (££)

In celebration of the Chinese New Year I met Mr. Noodles and some other friends at Dumpling Legend in Chinatown. This evening turned out to be not only a feast of some delicious and some not so great food, but was also hugely educational as I learned a lot from Mr. Noodles about Chinese culture, food and restaurants.

Valentine’s Mousse @ HOTEL CHOCOLAT

I recently walked through Borough Market, famished and on the way to dinner.

Unfortunately I still had an hour or so until food and my blood glucose levels had sunk to a dangerous level where I started to feel very irritated with the world. I suffer from a condition that my blogger friend Sassanuka describes as hangrrrr (hunger induced anger) and people who know me better are very afraid of this sudden change of my personality. I went into Hotel Chocolat, which has a small shop/ cafe on the South side of Borough Market, and they probably saved my dinner date from an very grumpy Ute (at least until the bread would have been served).

In the Name of the Spud –THE POTATO COUNCIL

You won’t believe it,it’s not a joke or trying to sound very clever in my post title, there really is a Potato Council in the UK. And this so called Potato Council is at the moment running a campaign to make the spud more popular and raise its profile.

In this scope,Uyen from Fernandez and LeluuRoast Potato,Never Enough Shoes (she blogged about it here) and myself were invited to an evening ‘in the name of the potato’held at the cookery school of the Michelin starred celebrity chef Jean-Christophe Novelli.

CAFE AMISHA (Bermondsey)

Category: Bistro (££)

I would have never gone to Cafe Amisha if it wasn’t for my Italian friend at work. She is a very good cook herself and very critical about Italian restaurants, but this one,she said, served very decent food. Who would have thought this about a place called Cafe Amisha? You expect a grotty Indian take away,so I was still not convinced. But considering that it is 10 minutes by foot from where I live/ about 10 minutes also from Bermondsey Street and that it is 50% off on Taste London,I was willing to take a risk.
