antidepressants new years 2012 Most Read Posts 2011 and a Happy New Year!

The last post of the  year is another list. I am not terribly excited about New Year’s celebrations, fireworks and staying up until dawn, but the end of the old year just gives you another reason to do a list! (I just love lists!)

Here now my most read posts of the year 2011

Ute cooks: ROASTED PUMPKIN WITH CARDAMON AND LIME

the best pumpkin recipe ever

After all the Christmas gluttony with plenty of meat and alcohol, I was in dire need of some detox. Luckily, I bought my mum Plenty by the famous London restaurateur Yotam Ottolenghi for Christmas and so we tried some of his recipes to cleanse our bodies and enjoy the pleasures of vegetables, herbs and spices.

Ute cooks: MOROCCAN CARROT SALAD and a story about ARGAN OIL

Ute cooks: MOROCCAN CARROT SALAD and a story about ARGAN OIL

my super delicious Moroccan carrot salad

I love all kinds of vegetables (most in fact apart from celeriac, broccoli and peppers) and I admired the way vegetable and salad dishes were prepared in Morocco – colourful, immersed in aromatic spices and drowned in beautiful olive or argan oil it made it an utmost pleasure to get your five a day and more.

I actually wanted to publish this list as a celebratory 200th post on Hungry in London, but I absent-mindedly missed this special occasion – as a consequence this will now be the 201st post (still very celebratory of course).

Dear Sale e Pepe,

Congratulations! You won the prestigious HungryinLondon Award for the worst and most overpriced meal of the year 2011. It was a close one between you and Osteria Basilico in Notthing Hill, (the Italians going strong!) but you managed to pull it off, well done!

ELLIOT’S (London Bridge)

 ELLIOTS (London Bridge)

Baked Pumpkin, Raschera Cheese, Mushrooms and Chard (13) @Elliot's

Elliot’s conveniently located South of Borough Market is exactly what had been missing from this part of London.  Launched in summer 2011 it has steadily increased in popularity, and this rightly so.

Elliot’s is a typical London 2011 restaurant: easy going, no reservations, small plates to share, inventive seasonal food, friendly young personnel, and very affordable. (for other restaurants with similar concepts that opened in 2011 look no further than for example Spuntino, Da Polpo, Duck Soup Soho, Riding House Cafe, …).

Christmas at Hotel Chocolate: SERIOUSLY DARK FIX

Christmas at Hotel Chocolate: SERIOUSLY DARK FIX

Raspberry Liquor Truffle or Chili Praline?

Invited Product Review

I usually don’t particularly like doing product reviews;   I do however make an exception for good chocolate (and truffles and champagne for that matter, if anyone fancies sending me some?)

My good friend (this is what I call people who give me chocolate) from the Hotel Chocolate PR department sent me a box of their Seriously Dark Fix (£22 in retail) to review.  He knows my taste – the darker the better!
