Invited Product Review
I usually don’t particularly like doing product reviews; I do however make an exception for good chocolate (and truffles and champagne for that matter,if anyone fancies sending me some?)
My good friend (this is what I call people who give me chocolate) from the Hotel Chocolate PR department sent me a box of their Seriously Dark Fix (£22 in retail) to review. He knows my taste –the darker the better!
Considering Hotel Chocolate is a the equivalent of a High Street Chocolate, I think it’s delicious and great value for money. Of course it is not Spruengli,Paul Young or Pierre Herme, but it’s chocolate for every day, every occasion and it’s recession-proof. At the same time Hotel Chocolate offers inventive flavours (ever eaten Gingerbread Truffles?) and cute seasonal editions (such as this very sad looking Reindeer).
So this box of luscious chocolates arrived…
Of course I tried them all,to the complete detriment of my diet, it is hard work being a committed foodie. My favourite ones were the Chilli Praline (there is nothing better than dark praline with a mean kick to it),the Hazelnut and Ginger Crunch (beautiful pieces of crunchy hazelnut, pickled ginger and scrumptious chocolate) and the Whiskey Truffle (because I’m a lush, you know, and it’s it made with Speyside single malt!).
There is one thing I didn’t like about the Seriously Dark Fix and this has to do with the size of their pralines. I am a grazer,I want to try a lot of different flavours and textures or have a piece of chocolate now and then maybe one in an hour. These chocolates however are frigging enormous! How much more would I love them,if they were half or even a third of their current size! Mind you,I tried to have my way by biting a third off the chocolates that I fancied and leaving the remaining two thirds in the box. Interestingly, this ingenious concept was not exactly met with enthusiasm by my room mates.
Apart from this,Hotel Chocolate are great (and I am not only saying this because they give me free chocolate!) and if you are short of a Christmas present you might want to check out their Christmas Boxes or Chocolate Christmas Gifts.

These are seriously gorgeous chocolate divas. Amazing &captivating. Cheers !
@Brighton Restaurants –ha! indeed….! I have eaten far too much of them (but of course could eat much more
