Lamb Rump (15.5) @ Hereford Road
Category: Bistro (££)
St. John in Clerkenwell is the quintessential British restaurant in London and has been awarded a Michelin star for its achievement to put British food and rare cuts back onto the culinary map. Several chefs who have cooked at St. John’s have done very well for themselves, spreading the love for British cuisine throughout the country. Tom Pemberton, former head chef at St John’s, is one of them and has cooked at Hereford Road since its opening in 2007. He has followed the St John’s principle: weird and sometimes not all that appetising sounding (at least to the foreign ear) British dishes, unusual and often cheap cuts and a whole lot of offal. January 15th, 2013 The Shed
Category: Bistro (££)

The Shed, just around the corner from Notting Hill Tube Station, is, well, a shed. A beautifully restored and well heated one that is, but nevertheless a shed. The wood smell, the warm lighting, the waiters dressed in lumberjack shirts, and the tools on the wall create a rustic, cosy and warm atmosphere which is of course a bit artificial but still incredibly charming. If it wasn’t for the most uncomfortable tables I have possibly ever sat at (turned-around barrels with wood tops and absolutely no space for even my short legs) I would make The Shed my new living room. This was absolutely stunning venison! @ Henry Root
Category: Brasserie (£££)
We were planning to go to 11 Park Walk, an Italian restaurant, part of the Zafferano group. When we arrived in Park Walk, just off Fulham High Street, the Italian place was two thirds empty and the clientele looked positively geriatric, while Henry Root just next to it drew us in with warm lighting and welcoming atmosphere. There we go, plans changed.

 Venison @ Kitchentable
Category: Haute Cuisine (££££)
In a back room of the very much en vogue champagne and hot dogs place Bubbledogs, separated only by a heavy curtain, is the recently-opened Kitchen Table. While Bubbledogs is the brainchild of the beautiful and charming Sandra Chang, her husband James Knappett has fulfilled his dreams by starting up Kitchen Table in the back room. That’s what I call a relationship compromise! Read more... (1227 words, 18 images, estimated 4:54 mins reading time)
August 29th, 2012 Steak Tartare with melba toast (10) @ The Frontline Club
Category: Bistro (££)
The Frontline Club in Paddington is first and foremost the “London hub for a diverse group of people united by their passion for the best quality journalism“. Â Hosting more than 200 events per year with topics as diverse as for instance the upcoming talks on “Reporting from the World’s Deadliest Places“, “Iraq: Escalating Violence and Sectarian Division” or “Slavery Inc” (about the international sex trade) it is the place to go if you are interested in current affairs and intellectually stimulating discussion. July 18th, 2012 8oz Cheeseburger, Pickles, Hand-Cut Chips (15) @ Admiral Codrington
Category: Bistro (££+)
If you are only somewhat involved in the London food scene, you can’t help but hear about the exceptional burgers at Admiral Codrington, a gastro pub located in a small side street in the middle of Chelsea. Intrigued, I went there last weekend for Sunday lunch and I can report back that the rumours are true: This is a gastro pub to watch out for, and not only the burgers make it well worth a visit. July 7th, 2012 Food Art @ Upstairs at the 10 Bells
Category:  Bistro (££)Â

The Ten Bells is a lively pub in Commercial Street opposite Spitalfields Market which is infamous for its association with Jack the Ripper and, on a less grisly note, famous for its food.  Last year, the room above the pub had been taken over by The Young Turks & The Clove Club who created a much raved about and uniformly loved pop up restaurant.  I missed out on their months long stint which finished some time last autumn and was now happy to learn that Isaac McHale from the Young Turks and Giorgio Ravelli (formerly cooking a The Ledbury) are back Upstairs at the 10 Bells, this time with a permanent restaurant.
