November 23rd, 2012 A real rubbish pizza @ Ciro’s Pizza Pomodoro
Category: Bistro
It is rare that I have horrendous food in London. Rare but not unheard of. At Ciro’s Pizza Pomodoro in Knightsbridge, on the famous Beauchamp Place just opposite San Lorenzo where Diana allegedly used to lunch, I had the dubious pleasure to enjoy what may have been the most horrible pizza I’ve had, maybe forever? I think if you buy a frozen pizza from Tesco, what am I saying, a 2 pounds value pack for 3 frozen pizzas from Iceland, and eat it straight, without putting it in the oven first, the culinary experience may be a more pleasurable one. Recently, together with a bunch of other bloggers and food media people, I was invited to the launch of nibblr at he Mayfair restaurant Avista, situated at the Millenium Hotel. On their website, nibblr describes itself as “the social dining network. Getting offline and back into the ‘real world,’ it’s all about bringing together good food and good company.” Read more... August 26th, 2012 Pappardelle al ragu di manzo (11.80) @ 500 Restaurant
Category: Bistro (££)
This new category of “The Neighbourhood Gem” has been born as a result of a line of unsatisfactory visits to en vogue London restaurants. I concluded that a lot of the eateries that are the flavour at the moment in London, I just don’t rate particularly highly. I therefore decided together with my eater in crime, Uyen, instead of rushing to all new openings (I am honestly sick and tired of burgers) and endlessly hyped restaurants, to rather explore the neighbourhood eatery – usually a little gem that has been around forever and is recession-proof as it is frequented by loyal locals who keep coming to enjoy the food. May 24th, 2012 A lot of food @ Pizza East
Category: Bistro (££)
The reason why I must be the last person with any kind of interest in food, who has never been to Pizza East before is that I usually don’t like pizza. Out of the blue however I was overwhelmed by a sudden pizza craving and Pizza East seemed like an obvious choice. Read more... (717 words, 11 images, estimated 2:52 mins reading time)

 Finocchiona Toscana £3 @Briciole

When I heard about the opening of Briciole I knew I had to try it in my desperate and thus far not successful search for a decent and non pretentious neighbourhood Italian. Read more... (869 words, 16 images, estimated 3:29 mins reading time)
April 11th, 2012 Fried Whitebait @ Mele e Pere (Soho)
Category: Bistro (££-£££)
London is in dire need of good neighbourhood Italians. Unfortunately the newly opened Italian trattoria Mele e Pere in Soho is not going to change that.
My recent lunch at Mele e Pere was largely mediocre. I chose dishes from the lunch and pre-theatre menu, which with 12.50 for 2 courses is a real bargain. The a la carte menu is substantially more pricey with antipasti from £.50 to £9.50, paste from £7.50 to £10 and mains between £14 and £24. Read more... March 30th, 2012 Spaghetti, Clams, Chili Garlic - starter portion (7)
Category: Bistro (££)
I enjoyed Market Cafe, a bar/restaurant on the corner of fashionably edgy Broadway Market in Hackney. It’s buzzing, it’s low key, it’s reasonably priced and I thought the food was nice. In parts entire experience seemed a bit improvised and it was overall not faultless – possibly due to the fact that Market Cafe has only opened a couple of months ago. Read more... January 16th, 2012 Tinello
Category: Bistro – Brasserie (££-£££)

It is a hard job to be an amateur restaurant critic.  Always rushing off to the newest openings, which means, thanks to the new non-booking trend, queuing for hours in the cold, eating mediocre food in places hyped for inapprehensible reasons and then there is the constant fight against personal bankruptcy, alcoholism and obesity. December 11th, 2011 Tagliolini al Tartufo Nero (19.50)

Dear Sale e Pepe,
Congratulations! You won the prestigious HungryinLondon Award for the worst and most overpriced meal of the year 2011. It was a close one between you and Osteria Basilico in Notthing Hill, (the Italians going strong!) but you managed to pull it off, well done! Read more... Oliveto is another example of a substandard, overpriced Italian restaurant in London. I don’t know why you can find so many of them in London, I think I have eaten more bad Italian food than any other cuisine. Read more... (562 words, 6 images, estimated 2:15 mins reading time)
