April 11th, 2013 Tom Yum Soup @ Busaba Eathai
Category: Bistro (££)
I was never very keen on the Thai restaurant chain Busaba Eathai. Several years ago, when the first Soho outpost had newly opened, I ate there a couple of times, and I never quite understood what made people queue in rain and cold for this in my opinion rather mediocre Thai food. Time passed and with it the memory faded. Read more... (448 words, 4 images, estimated 1:48 mins reading time)
January 24th, 2013 a plate worth almost 15 pounds? @ Baity’s Kitchen

Category: Brasserie (£££)
I have always enjoyed going to Jak’s in Walton Street for their fresh salads and delicious strawberry cheesecake (although I confess that Jak’s is currently in the midst of a renovation and they are in temporary digs and have increased pricing so beware – I might qualify my greenlight shortly). All things considered, Jak’s at least in the past seemed rather fairly priced for being in Knightsbridge/Chelsea, just a stone-throw away from the department store from hell, Harrods. Read more... November 23rd, 2012 A real rubbish pizza @ Ciro’s Pizza Pomodoro
Category: Bistro
It is rare that I have horrendous food in London. Rare but not unheard of. At Ciro’s Pizza Pomodoro in Knightsbridge, on the famous Beauchamp Place just opposite San Lorenzo where Diana allegedly used to lunch, I had the dubious pleasure to enjoy what may have been the most horrible pizza I’ve had, maybe forever? I think if you buy a frozen pizza from Tesco, what am I saying, a 2 pounds value pack for 3 frozen pizzas from Iceland, and eat it straight, without putting it in the oven first, the culinary experience may be a more pleasurable one. August 29th, 2012 Steak Tartare with melba toast (10) @ The Frontline Club
Category: Bistro (££)
The Frontline Club in Paddington is first and foremost the “London hub for a diverse group of people united by their passion for the best quality journalism“. Â Hosting more than 200 events per year with topics as diverse as for instance the upcoming talks on “Reporting from the World’s Deadliest Places“, “Iraq: Escalating Violence and Sectarian Division” or “Slavery Inc” (about the international sex trade) it is the place to go if you are interested in current affairs and intellectually stimulating discussion. Imli Bhel Puri (4.85)
Category: Budget (£)

I am rarely doing invited restaurant reviews any more. Â In some way, it makes me feel guilty when I get a free meal and I have to give a devastating review. Â Unfortunately there is no way I could have written a positive or even moderate review about Imli, an Indian tapas restaurant in the middle of Soho. Read more... May 30th, 2012 Plantains , chips and dips (4) @Shrimpy’s
Category: Brasserie (££)
I was keen on trying Shrimpy’s, the recently opened sister restaurant of the East London institution Bistroteque. I have been to Bistroteque many times and have always enjoyed their bistro-style cooking with little pretence and all the more flavour, so I was looking forward to an evening of similar quality and culinary pleasure also at Shrimpy’s. May 14th, 2012 Don Ceviche £6.75
Category: Bistro (££+)
I love ceviche but no, I didn’t like Ceviche. Ceviche, a recently opened Peruvian restaurant in Soho, is the new darling of the London foodie scene, equally loved by food bloggers and food critics. Peruvian cuisine is predicted to be the new food trend of 2012 (as suggested in Huffington Post and The Telegraph) and apart from Ceviche, 2 more Peruvian restaurants are to open in London in the coming months.
I had Peruvian food only at a few occasions and enjoyed it a lot, so I was excited to meet my friend Uyen at Ceviche for a girly lunch. Read more... (876 words, 12 images, estimated 3:30 mins reading time)
April 11th, 2012 Fried Whitebait @ Mele e Pere (Soho)
Category: Bistro (££-£££)
London is in dire need of good neighbourhood Italians. Unfortunately the newly opened Italian trattoria Mele e Pere in Soho is not going to change that.
My recent lunch at Mele e Pere was largely mediocre. I chose dishes from the lunch and pre-theatre menu, which with 12.50 for 2 courses is a real bargain. The a la carte menu is substantially more pricey with antipasti from £.50 to £9.50, paste from £7.50 to £10 and mains between £14 and £24. Read more... March 15th, 2012 Sardines on Toast @Bistro du Vin
Category: Brasserie (£££)

My dinner at Bistro du Vin has been a largely unpleasant experience and the food could be summarised with the two words “Dry” and “Bland“.  On top of this, the service personnel was truly annoying (such as 3 waiters  asking the same question within the space of 2 minutes and fake friendliness that seemed very insincere) and a waiting time of 45 minutes for the starter of the pre-theatre menu. Amuse bouche @Petrus
Category: Haute Cuisine (££££)
About a year ago I participated at a competition posted by the lovely Greedy Diva and won the amazing prize of a £200 voucher to dine at any of Gordon Ramsay’s restaurants.  Initially I wanted to splash it at the 3 Michelin star Gordon Ramsay at Hospital Road, but as I am not organised enough to make a reservation in due time ahead, I decided to try Petrus in Knightsbridge instead (reservation on the day possible).
