| May 19th,2010 Category: Bistro Sometimes not even a 50% off deal (Toptable) makes a restaurant worth going to. Alfie’s,a hotel restaurant on Bermondsey Square,is one of these unfortunate places. It didn’t have very good reviews admittedly,but we decided to give it a chance anyway,as the hotel looks really classy from the outside and so does the restaurant. Also the inside is quite nice –it’s a rather stylish,maybe not too comfortable but nicely done with an open kitchen. April 22nd,2010 Category: Bistro Zucca,Zucca,what am I going to do with you? After my first,not very successful visit (see Zucca (1) ) I returned not long afterwards because somehow the place left me intrigued (and it’s on the way between home and work which might have influenced my decision too…). And still I don’t know what to think as there are many things I really like about Zucca but also some things I absolutely don’t. The menu: April 9th,2010
Category:Bistro There is a new place Bermondsey Street which opened about two weeks ago. It’s called “Zucca” (Italian for pumpkin) and it offers “modern Italian cuisine”. Bermondsey Street,regarded by some as one of the loveliest and liveliest neighborhood streets in London,is buzzing with restaurants and bars. Zucca is a much welcomed addition to the culinary scene as so far,the choice of Italian restaurants in this area has been limited. Zucca is stylish with white tables and chairs and an open kitchen. The menu is pleasantly small:8 starters and 8 main courses – 2 pasta,3 meat and 3 fish dishes. Prices are fair –3-4.5£ for a starter and around 13£ pounds for a main. |
