November 23rd, 2012 A real rubbish pizza @ Ciro’s Pizza Pomodoro
Category: Bistro
It is rare that I have horrendous food in London. Rare but not unheard of. At Ciro’s Pizza Pomodoro in Knightsbridge, on the famous Beauchamp Place just opposite San Lorenzo where Diana allegedly used to lunch, I had the dubious pleasure to enjoy what may have been the most horrible pizza I’ve had, maybe forever? I think if you buy a frozen pizza from Tesco, what am I saying, a 2 pounds value pack for 3 frozen pizzas from Iceland, and eat it straight, without putting it in the oven first, the culinary experience may be a more pleasurable one. May 24th, 2012 A lot of food @ Pizza East
Category: Bistro (££)
The reason why I must be the last person with any kind of interest in food, who has never been to Pizza East before is that I usually don’t like pizza. Out of the blue however I was overwhelmed by a sudden pizza craving and Pizza East seemed like an obvious choice. Read more... (717 words, 11 images, estimated 2:52 mins reading time)

Oliveto is another example of a substandard, overpriced Italian restaurant in London. I don’t know why you can find so many of them in London, I think I have eaten more bad Italian food than any other cuisine. Read more... (562 words, 6 images, estimated 2:15 mins reading time)

You really don’t have to leave London, in fact you don’t even have to leave work, for international cultural and culinary exchange. I learned more than I ever thought I wanted to know about Neapolitan cuisine as, for the past 4 years I have worked in the midst of Little Napoli. I know now how a perfect pizza has to look and taste like (with Naples being the cradle of pizza) and I have also learned about Friarielli, a green vegetable from the same family as broccoli (only much better in my opinion) which grows on the hills around Naples. I am not going to give a good review to any Italian restaurant that serves me overcooked pasta, particularly when I request my pasta to be al dente. So if you don’t mind the state of your pasta you might enjoy Pizzeria La Lanterna. If you are, like me, a pasta snob, stay away. Read more... (439 words, 5 images, estimated 1:45 mins reading time)

I was strongly critised by my Italian friends (most of which are from Naples, where the pizza was invented) that pizza was completely absent from my blog so far.
This is basically explained by the fact that for me, pizza is absolutely neglectable so I would never dream of ordering it if I can avoid it, let alone go to a dedicated pizzeria. Read more... (669 words, 7 images, estimated 2:41 mins reading time)

This was a recommendation made independently by two Italian friends, so I would have actually expected more from this casual Italian restaurant/ pizzeria.
Santa Lucia is part of the “Made in Italy Group” that has several branches all over London.
We dined at another branch on King’s Road (Made in Italy) some time ago and were not that happy, as the pasta was overcooked and the service not really up to scratch. But after the strong recommendations that this is the best Italian in London we decided to try Santa Lucia anyway. Read more... (615 words, 3 images, estimated 2:28 mins reading time)

Bertorelli (St. Martin’s Lane branch), in the middle of the theatre district, really has a great location. However, this is the only positive thing I can say about this restaurant which serves overpriced, utterly indistinctive food.
I went there with a group of girls before seeing Enron at the Noel Coward Theatre for a light and fast pre-theatre dinner. The service is slow, my god! Fortunately we had enough time and only ordered one course…! Read more... (348 words, 3 images, estimated 1:24 mins reading time)

Tenore is a pleasant neighborhood Italian in Islington (about 10 min walk from Angel) serving traditional Sardinian cuisine. It’s a shame that despite their decent food they disappoint by their lack of attention to detail. Read more... (306 words, 3 images, estimated 1:13 mins reading time)

Well, this is not so much a restaurant review but a warning…
P. and I were on our way to the Donmar Warehouse in Covent Garden to see a play and had a bit more than an hour beforehand to grab some food. Plenty of time we thought – little did we know. We went to a place that looked quick and chain-like with the intention of getting some reliable food and ended up at Rossopomodoro (Italian for red tomato). Rossopomodoro, as I learned later, is part of an Italian chain with origin in Naples wanting to bring “a little slice of Naples to Londonâ€. Read more...
